Content

To develop knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical techniques and analyse, interpret and communicate mathematical information.  

Topics may include:

  • Mathematical induction
  • Complex numbers
  • Functions and sketching graphs
  • Vectors in three-dimensions
  • Integration techniques and applications
  • Rates of change and differential equations

Assessment

Skills and applications tasks  50%

  • Six tests - one for each topic
  • One skill and application task must be undertaken without the use of either a calculator or notes

Investigation folio  20%

  • Integration investigation - 15 pages 

Examination  30%

  • Students undertake a 130-minute examination
  • The examination is based on the key questions and key concepts in the six topics

Additional Information

Students will require an approved SACE graphics calculator (recommended TI-84 Plus CE)

Year 12 Specialist Mathematics must be studied in conjunction with year 12 Mathematical Methods.
