Content

The study of Psychology enables students to understand their own and others' behaviours. Psychology builds on the scientific method by involving students in the collection and analysis of data. 

This subject allows students to investigate human behaviour, the underlying processes, and the factors that influence it. Students can apply psychological knowledge to areas such as education, employment and relationships. 

Topics may include: 

  • Psychology of the individual
  • Psychological health and wellbeing 
  • Organisational psychology
  • Social influence
  • The psychology of learning

Assessment

Folio  30%

  • One psychological investigation - maximum 1500 words
  • One investigation with a focus on science as a human endeavour - 1500 words or 9-minute oral or equivalent multimedia presentation

Skills and applications tasks 40%

  • Psychological health and well-being - 70 minutes
  • Personality character analysis - maximum 1200 words
  • A response to science in the media - 8-minute oral or equivalent multimedia presentation

Examination  30%

  • 130-minute online examination consisting of short-answer and extended-response questions

Additional Information

Students must obtain a C or better in one semester of year 11 Psychology.

Students will be expected to purchase a study guide from SASTA.
