Not for ourselves alone

About Us

Wellbeing Team

At Mount Barker High School, our Wellbeing team is dedicated to supporting all students' mental, emotional, and social health.  We work to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages students to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Our team collaborates with students, families, and staff to nurture each student's well-being and empower them to reach their full potential.

In our role, we:

  • advocate for all student's learning and well-being needs
  • offer support for managing personal issues and relationships with family, teachers, and peers
  • respond to crisis situations such as contacting the Social Work Incident Support Service (SWISS)
  • guide and refer students to appropriate support and therapeutic services, including the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAHMS), Headspace, Summit Health, general practitioners, and Young Carers
  • act as mandated reports of child abuse and neglect
  • respect student's privacy and maintain confidentiality
  • run clubs and activities aimed at celebrating diversity and promoting safe and supportive environments
  • lead initiatives that support a whole school approach to student wellbeing and mental health
  • case management of Tailored Learning Programs
