Content

The study of Physics involves using models, laws, and theories to better understand matter, forces, energy, and their interactions. Physics is based on evidence obtained from observations, measurements, and active experimentation.  

Topics may include:

  • Motion and relativity
  • Electricity and magnetism
  • Light and atoms 

Assessment

Skills and applications tasks  40%

  • Motion in 2 dimensions - 80 minutes
  • Circular motion and relativity - 80 minutes   
  • Electricity and magnetism - 80 minutes
  • Light and atoms - 80 minutes

Folio  30%

  • Projectile motion investigation: Deconstruction and design report - 1500 words
  • Young's double slit practical report - 1500 words
  • Science as a human endeavour report - 1500 words

Examination  30%

  • Students undertake a 130-minute examination
  • Year 12 science inquiry skills and science understanding from all topics may be assessed
