Content

Students have the opportunity to specialise in Multimedia, focusing on filmmaking and special effects. They understand the filmmaking process through theory and practice, utilising various technologies. This includes a DSLR camera, Adobe Premiere, and After Effects for filming and editing using the green-screen studio. Tasks involve individual and collaborative approaches to enable individuals to demonstrate their ability to work effectively in a film crew on shared ideas. 

Assessment

Folio  50% 

  • Special effects folio  40%  
    To demonstrate skills and knowledge in Adobe After Effects and Premiere through a series of mini-projects leading to creating a showreel. A PowerPoint supporting the processes used in each project will be submitted - 500 words.
  • Movie analysis – investigation  10%  
    Students analyse a three-act animation for effectiveness as a communications product. They identify various camera shots/transitions and camera movements within their chosen animation and relate this to effective storytelling - 500 words.
Product  50%  
  • Major practical - In negotiation with the teacher, students plan, produce and make a short film. They work in film crews within the school environment and/or outside of school in the production phase to execute filming sequences individually before post-production (editing) is completed. Students submit a product record, including scripting, storyboarding and evaluation, supporting their final short film - 750 words.
