Students study scientific concepts and explore how they relate to everyday life. Students develop their inquiry skills through practical investigations, which allow them to formulate and test hypotheses and draw conclusions. 

Topics may include:

• Chemical Sciences: atoms, radioactivity
• Biological Sciences: homeostasis, asexual and sexual reproduction
• Physical Sciences: energy transfer
• Earth and Space Sciences: carbon cycle, Earth’s spheres

Assessment

Tasks may include:

Folio Tasks

• Completion experiment by completing a given method to collect, interpret and analyse data
• Design experiment by collaboratively identifying and controlling variables to design a step-by-step method to be able to interpret and analyse data, as well as evaluate the scientific method

Skills and Application Tasks

• Topic tests
• A multimodal product such as a website, video, stop motion
• Informative poster on a given topic
• Oral presentation
