Content

Year 9 Geography has two units of study: Biomes and Food Security and Geographies of Interconnections.

'Biomes and Food Security' investigates how living organisms and their environment contribute to food and fibre production. Students learn about the role climates, soils and vegetation have on food productivity, how humans impact these factors, and how technology can be used to overcome emerging challenges to food security.

'Geographies of Interconnections' explores the ways in which people are connected through technology, trade and travel. Students learn about the effects of international demand for food products on biodiversity throughout the world while developing the skills to reflect on and respond to environmental and economic challenges.
