Content

Students develop knowledge, skills and understanding in framing and carcase construction through a negotiated project and application tasks. Attention to WH&S requirements in safe operating procedures is required.

Students will produce a hall table under guided instruction learning how to use Fusion 360 Software to create joints and parts of products.

Students undertake a design process, investigating and analysing products that clearly connect to their design brief. They develop and plan concepts that create a variety of solutions for the brief. Students apply skills, processes and procedures to create a product that best meets their brief. They evaluate the design process and product they have created in response to their design brief.

Students investigate and analyse the functional characteristics and properties of two or more materials of their choice.

Assessment

Practical Inquiry  40%

  • Create a joint or part of a product using CAD software – 500s word written or 3-minute multimodal equivalent
  • Orthogonal Drawing of a hall table - discussion 8-minute maximum
  • Produce a hall table and evaluate - 500 words written or 3-minute multimodal equivalent

Connections Task  30%

  • Create a product - maximum 2000 words or equivalent multimodal form

Personal Endeavour  30%

  • Written investigation - maximum 2000 words or 12 minutes multimodal equivalent

Additional Information

Students may need to contribute to the cost of extra materials and finishes required to produce their chosen major project.
