Content

To prepare students for Year 12 Specialist Mathematics, students study a selection of topics which may include:

  • Geometry
  • Vectors in the Plane
  • Further Trigonometry
  • Real and Complex Numbers
  • Matrices

Assessment

Investigation  25% 

  • Bezier Curves - 8-page maximum
Skills and Applications Tasks  75% 
  • Trigonometry Test, Vectors Test and Examination

Additional Information

Students must study Mathematics A and Mathematics B to study Mathematics C. Preferred pre-requisite achievement of a C or better in Mathematics A. Students must purchase their own graphics calculator (recommended Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus CE).

Students must select Mathematics A, B and C if they wish to study Year 12 Specialist Mathematics.

Students must achieve a C grade in 10 credits of Year 11 Mathematics to meet the Numeracy requirement of the SACE.

Students will be enrolled in Mathematics classes based on teacher recommendations and parent approval. Teacher recommendations are based on previous achievements, PAT results, and career pathways.
